S2000 to NSX?
I am weakly searching for NA2s. If the right one falls into my lap for the right price, I may be tempted to sell my S2000 to get one. How many of you guys have made the leap? It has to be a common upgrade for Honda fans like me. What did you miss the most about the S2000 compared to the NSX?
I don't want to pay big money for the 2G NSX and will wait years for used ones to fall into my price range. In the meantime, I figure, why not enjoy a later 1G NSX with a manual transmission? It's been on my bucket list forever....

Done it twice. Like it a lot more this time around, but they are not the same car. Similar tech and engineering yeah, but they deliver different driving experiences. What do you want to know?

I guess I want to know how different the driving experience is between the NSX and the S2000, and whether I would be missing anything from the S2000 in making the switch.
Essentially, I want to know whether the NSX feels any more "special" to drive than the S2000. In my S2000, once the engine is warmed up, I get to over 6k rpm as often as practical on the freeway. It never, ever gets old. I also love the S2000's tight cockpit, it feels as if it fits me just right. Just looking at it sitting in my garage is an experience.
OTOH, I also love the NSX's style and the better torque, available sooner, which makes it easier to drive on the street.

Whether the car is special in a similar light to the S2000 is easy - of course it is. It was made in the golden age of sports cars, as was the S2000 (albeit at the trailing end of the 90s) The NSX has VTEC, so the rev happiness (8000 rpm redline) is still there. The cockpit is also tight, although very different. I think just sitting in an NSX driver seat and operating it is an experience in and of itself. You have such a great view of everything and low seating position you feel like you're in something special. The S2000 offers a similar experience, with less visibility and higher seating position.
If you're streeting the NSX it probably won't be a better daily. They get totaled easily, attract more attention, and parking it and leaving it out of your sight is a bit harder to do.
When I was younger I preferred the S2000. Now that I've had my fun with S2000's I prefer the quieter, more comfy GT car. Both offer a great experience that is genuinely "Honda" and neither is a bad choice.

I was in the market to try to restore an NSX. But, dang entry level --- minus restoration cost --- prices are so high, now. A fully well restored NSX is prolly not worth the price, at the moment.
Good luck on your hunt! Great car.

I think for the money, there are better driver's cars. That said, if you have a particular fondness for the NSX and want one for more emotional reasons, then go for it. They are beautiful cars and certainly aren't depreciating.

I should have bought one a few years ago. They were never a value buy, but now they're just getting stupidly expensive.
