S2000 vs. Older Porsche Boxster S.... Have you owned both?
If you're owned both I'd like to know if the Boxster S is too soft and not as mechanical as the s2000. I had a 2007 s2000 and loved it, and am thinking about a 2007ish Boxster S, and was wondering if I would find it too boring. Please only chime in if you're owned both or driven both. Thanks!!!

Well I'm thinking about 2007 or so, which is substantially faster than the s2000, and I don't have one in front of me to drive, so I'd like the perspective of someone who has had both, and I'm sure they are out here.
I'm not worried about the maintenance costs
Thanks!

Try cars.com. Search for what you want and go drive. I would never buy a car without driving it. But an s2000 with hks supercharger is nice and reliable, but the porsche has a lot to offer

Thanks but I don't want to inconvenience a private seller like that unless I am really ready to pull the trigger

Id stick with the S. Sure less "prestige" and creature comfort, but more fun with similar performance. Any deficit in performance from the S can be made up with tires and simple and relatively inexpensive breathing bolts ons, certainly compared to bolt ons for the Porsche. The S with a few simple/clean updates (lowered with wheels, chin spoiler etc) is also better looking in my opinion and less common a car which adds to the fun of ownership. Wont even mention the comparison in longevity and maint cost, which was eluded to already. No ive never owned a Boxer. I wouldn't because of what I stated. I have owned my S for 13 years though.

Aren't the Boxters susceptible to IMS failures? Even the 2007. An upgraded aftermarket one isn't even a safety net anymore (I've seen at least one documented failure of the LN Engineering solution).

It's very low percentage and from my reading it's overblown and the 10% figure that people seem to quote is inflated, but even if i assume worst case scenario I factor in $2k to take the preventative measure, and I'm ok with that. Anyway, without trying to sound cocky, i'm not worried about the maintenance costs, i can afford to deal with the problems if I like the dynamics of a car.
