s2k or rx-7

Fun open sports car you can drive all over the place, to distant tracks and back, with no worries? S2000. Fixed-roof semi-exotic with propensity to eat apex seals? FD. Best of both and more? LS FD

For the rx-7 I was thinking of a swap, instead of keeping the old engine, of a 2jz or LS. Yeah it’s going to be a bank breaker but, it’s worth it. Even though the frame may be too light to handle the horsepower, but for the s2k I was thinking of just keeping the same motor, but maybe a big turbo or twinning it. But I want both to just be a street build for show and weekend drives. Not wanting to track them just yet.

I Own both an S and an RX7 (though it’s a TII not an FD). There is nothing like driving a 7. The sound, the smell, the feel, the excitement. Both cars are totally different animals with different personalities. I’m sure some on here would crucify me for saying this, but I would give up my S before giving up my RX7.
If you’re going to rip its heart out and throw some v8 in it, the FD will not be the same. Sure it will still be fast, handle well, and look beautiful, but it’s not the same car or experience without the rotary.
Either way can’t go wrong, but my vote is the FD, with the 13B still in it.

FD with an ls sounds like automotive nirvana to me.

S2000 has more timeless styling and technically engaging. Rotary engines are neat, but they are not as reliable. Cost of ownership on the S2000 I would imagine is less as well. Overall build quality and execution on the S2000 is nicer.
