Where'd you hear that? FD chassis doesn't have a problem with LS, even boosted LS horsepower. You will want an 8.8 diff, though.

About 40k miles and 20 or so track days on my FD with LS powah...

I had a '90 RX-7 with stock 13B for a while. LOVED that car! Perfectly maintained, aired out pretty regularly, lunched apex seals at autoX event with 103k miles on the clock

Safe to say the 6.8 LS3 FD offers a fair amount more excitement!

If you’re going to rip its heart out and throw some v8 in it, the FD will not be the same.
Indeed, that's the idea

Either way can’t go wrong, but my vote is the FD, with the 13B still in it.
If usage includes driving halfway across the country to events, competing, and then driving home, that mission profile is a non-starter with the 13B.

Rotaries are cool and all, but in the end the novelty just isn't worth it for most. I enjoyed the 13B in my FC while it lasted, but honestly the F20C is more thrilling. When I got the S2k back in '07, the only other car I was considering was the RX-8, which I also LOVED. I would rather have had a fixed roof and rear seats for utility, but less performance combined with abysmal fuel mileage and questionable longevity/reliability tipped that decision to the S2000.

FD is a beautiful car. The rotary is magical, but requires more care and feeding. The beauty is than an LS swap is well documented, works well, and will give you an interesting car that really only loses the buzzsaw rotary character but gives back torque and reliability. Its a tough choice but for me it would depend on how willing you are to have a fussy car.

Compared to an RX-7, the S2000 is an appliance, at least stock. Depending what you modify you could easily end up with a fussy car as well. I think I'd find a rolling RX-7 chassis for cheap and go the LS route.

An fd rx7 with a ls motor is the perfect car.
