Default S2k vs 350z Nurburgring times.

S2k: 8:39
350Z: 8:26

13 seconds is a lifetime of difference and I was curious as to why the 350Z does so much better on Nurburgring, despite similar acceleration and 500 lb weight difference. Thanks.

drivers, conditions, days, weather.

one might be more power through some of the straights that the Z might have.

Nurburgring is pretty curvy but its not like an autocross track or a small circuit track, its more stretched out.

those are pretty bad times though, I usually get mid to low 7min.

Aerodynamics --

Our S2k is an aerodynamic pig -- it cuts the wind at .37 Cd while the 350Z cuts it in .29 Cd-- on a course as fast & long as the Ring, you need good a good aero package to achieve good times.

The numbers aren't surprising.

The 350z has 60 more horses and much more torque than the S, period. On a long roadcourse like the 'Ring, this is going to be a huge advantage for the Z, even if it is 300 lbs heavier.

The S would have the upperhand on a tighter, more windy course, say at an autoX.

Honda spent so much R&D time and money on the S2k you'd think they would have made it more aerodynamic.
