Default Saab 9-3 Turbo X

I'm considering purchasing a DD and would like it to be a small, performance oriented 4 door. My dad has owned 3 Saab's over the years and I have always enjoyed their turbo power and uniqueness.

Has anyone had experience with recent Saab's and can comment on their performance, reliability, etc?

I specifically am interested in the Turbo X 2.8L V6 AWD that was made in 2008 with 280 hp.

Let me know your thoughts.

Friend has the regular 93 turbo, not sure the year but its probably right around 2008. He loves the car, and he gets some pretty good milage (olow 30 mpg) on his mostly highway commutes.

I like the car but it is snug inside for some people. He is 6'2" and has not complained but it is definately mid-size. I like smaller cars though.

It would definitely be something different, but with that uniqueness, you also get a very limited dealer network that could be a pain for a car that you rely on everyday.

aget the Saab 9-2x. its basically an 04-05 WRX in Saab guise with a better interior and more sophisticated looks. they're also way cheaper than an 04-05 WRX.

My dad has an '09 9-3 AWD and he loves it. No problems yet, but it's still pretty new and he drives like a granny.

I think the Turbo X is a pretty sweet car, especially in wagon form. The only thing is they are pretty hard to find. I want to say they only brought over 500 of each body style, but if you already have your eye on one I say check it out.

For other suggestions, if you are interested by unique, turbo cars with AWD, I would check out the Subaru Legacy GT from the same time period. About the same size, same power and I would have a lot less heartburn with the reliability of the Leggy over the Saab as well. You might be able to land one of the special editions as well.

It's not a sleeper, it's a worthless car in the market just as it was when it was new.
