Default Specs on the new MB E63 AMG...

interesting that MB is moving away from forced induction & going the NA route....



Specs released:

Naturally-Aspirated V-8 (90-degrees)
4-valves per cylinder
6208 ccm displacement
Max power: 510 hp (380kW)@ 6800 rpm
Max torque: 464lb-ft (630Nm) @ 5200 rpm
Redline: 7200 rpm

I have no idea how it'll perform, but if they're pretty close I'd still pick the M5 over this simply because the sound from that V10 is stunning.

Spinning 6.2 liters to 7200rpm in a V8? Now I know Benzes are some reliable automobiles, particularly in the engine, but that just sounds dangerous.

Just doing some quick math in my head, that'd be like spinning a 2.5 4cyl to 9k RPM.

The fuel cutoff on the new Z06 7 liter is 7100.

god, that's a big V8.
*sigh* does anyone make a sub 4 litre N/A V8 in a coupe in the US market?

Quoting my own post...gee...I must be bored.

I just wanted to say that I failed to take into account the exponential increases in equipment stresses for RPM increase. My calculations assumed linear and I know that's way off.
