I was thinking this. Also, it says someone bought the car and modified it and it happened to be at the shop when it was raided. Is that right? If the thief did the mods and got f***ed I laugh in his face. If someone unknowingly bought it, he was a dumbass for not investigating better but still.....
I thought about that, but the car had no VIN - in fact it was etched off, so whoever had the car most likely new it was stolen. Being found at a chop shop doesn't bode well for the new owner's innocence either.

Damn, when I had my '97 Accord, no one stole it and swapped a H22 in for me...

My question is, didn't she get an insurance payout when the car was written off? How long before the insurance company comes asking for its money back? I'm also skeptical of the upgrades, since I doubt she bought the car for speed in the first place, and now it is a high-profile target in an area known for theft activity.

If your car is stolen, you're usually better off not getting it back.
She probably didn't have comprehensive/collision coverage; hence once the car is recovered, it goes back to her.

If she did have comprehensive/collision coverage and was paid out the total theft settlement payment; if the car is recovered, the insurance company would just sell it at some salvage auction to try to re-coupe the loss paid out.

I deal with this on a daily basis

So, judging from the video, what all do you guys think was installed? What motor is that? Obviously we know that they ripped out the auto tranny and replaced it (crudely) with a manual.

I noticed they installed some very spiffy red drum brake covers on the rears.
