I guess this is the cost of having the brands "Halo Car."

Way too much.

Regular WRX can be modded MUCH cheaper. I am sure you can buy STi badging on EBAY.
That was definitely the case with the GD Imprezas, but they have really separated the STi from the WRX now, in looks if nothing else. The STi looks soooo much better.

I think Subaru is forgetting why many people buy their cars: Value. It's only a $1.5k increase in price but the standard rims are weak compared to the older BBS ones.

It's not a huge deal but $1.5k is still $1.5k.

You know, I have no idea how well these sell anyway. When I go to the dealer where I bought my Outback, they always have one. Are they in high demand or do they linger for the right buyer?

For this car Suby relies on its' diehards and they aren't happy. For many of them it's the shape and they can't get over that. Hatches have a better drag coefficient and if you look at rally, the hatches do better than sedans so that is why they went with the hatch design. The overhang was mentioned several times in the article I read.

What is bs is that if you want the BBS wheels you now have to pay $2k extra for them. On the Sti forums people are up in arms over this piece of the pricing structure. My guess is that Subaru will discount the car and you'll be able to pick one up close to invoice.

Suddenly the BMW 1 series pricing makes more sense.

I still don't get why Subaru hasn't done ANYTHING to improve the ''brand new'' STI.

This such a joke, aside from wanting a hatchback why would someone spend more money on a 2008 STI than a 2007 which can be had for a great price?

???

Hopefully Honda does better with the new S2000

Well, almost. I know they upstroked it to 2.5 liters because they say Americans want more torque. So, the new USDM STI is actually slower than the 2.0 liter in Japan.

The pricing is a joke, who would pay that much for a top of the line fast eco box.
