The pricing is a joke, who would pay that much for a top of the line fast eco box.
And it's still faster than your car.

Well, those prices are a bit of a hike.

As a side to this -- I added a 07 Sti to the garage last week. One of the last I could find local (outside of a dealer up on 104th that has 17 and is stocked with slimeballs).

Shitty pic I know .. but eh we have all seen them before.

The other car you can barely make out on the left is a V70R. Anyone looking at one I would suggest look elsewhere, the car is a real dissapointment, but the wife likes it around town.

Regarding the Sti. Not much to say that has not been written here before. Fast enough, 4 doors which works well for the kids. It is best summed up as entertainingly fast around town.

I think the theory is that current owners of an STI and ready to trade it in are making ~5-10K more than they were when they bought their first. So Subaru is trying to catch those buyers and recoup costs associated with both currency differences and improving the car over previous years.

Can't say it's not a good idea. Sell a guy a car, and a few years later, sell him a better one for more money. That's pretty much how things work for most cars.

^ If so, that's not a very good growth strategy.

Alternatively, general consensus is that Subaru is trying to broaden the Impreza's appeal, and certainly they are stepping into a new market segment with the pricing too. There were always cars at the same price that killed the STi in terms of fit & finish, but now @ $40k, several of those cars go head-to-head with it in performance. Subaru actually found a way to make the 135 look like a good deal.

STI's pricing seems to be heading towards the Supra's, 300Z's, RX7's price increased. Not good!

Haha and your IS350 is a corolla with a V6, I can't fathom where the extra 20k goes...

The 1 series fell a little short of my expectations as well but be realistic...

In regards to the STi, I think that it is too expensive, but then again, that seems to be my opinion on most of the new models coming out. The hatch does look better than I'd expected it to.

I'd still take a 37k 1 series (sport package only) over a 35k Sti, but I'm still trying find better ways to spend 40k than either (leaning towards a Z4 Coupe 3.0si with the $6500 cash back incentive or used Lotus Elise).
