I really miss my 2008 Legacy GT. That car with sway bars, Koni yellow shocks with pro kit springs, upgraded intercooler and custom tune felt awesome! Wish I never sold it.

I had a 2009 WRX for a few years. It was OK but I wasn't a huge fan of it, TBH. The power was nice, but everything else was marginal, including the handling, interior, and reliability. Mine started making some kind of grinding noise from the diff or tranny, with 45k miles on it. Luckily I traded it in. However, I just don't trust Subaru mechanicals, especially with their known issues such as the weak-ass ringlands in the 2.5l motors that they've yet to fix.

I had a '03 WRX wagon I leased new, probably a different car by now.
The car's styling, heart & soul was less each model year since they moved from the buy eye. Subaru is too committee/consumer poll sensitive in styling updates.

WRX/STI cars are ok if you're into cheap interiors, a noisy ride, substandard fuel economy, 'bro' subculture, and mediocre reliability. They are compromise cars that are built to be a jack of all trades and master of none. Just sitting in them, you can tell where the margin dollars are spent.

Basically any car that has dropped below 50-60K has a community full of dumb kids now.

I test drove a new one last year when I was thinking of trading my S2000 for a family car. Interior full of hard plastics and there were a couple rattles already during the test drive. The new direct injection FA20F motor spools up pretty quickly. Shifter has more resistance (like shifting through gravel) and travel than a S2000. "Torque vectoring" uses the brakes on the inside front wheel to turn the car, I am not a fan of this type of torque vectoring (concerned about increased brake wear and risk of overheating brakes if driving on track or long canyon runs). Given Subaru's history with engine reliability (EJ and FA20 motors), I would be concerned about this engine's long term reliability.
