Ugh crap like this kills me. The reason for chopping it up is it makes it much much more difficult to trace. If they just sold the car even with changes it is possible to show it was that car due to how unique it was. They can hack it up and sell the parts and probably make just as much money selling that stuff. Or even if they don't make anywhere near the value of the car they don't care because they didn't pay for any of it. Its basically 100% profit with just a few hours of work.

I do wonder how they got the car since I assume she would have had it in a locked garage or something fairly secure not just parked out on the street. This would mean they were in her house or garage which is even more violating. I think we need to bring back chopping thieves hands off, f**k them.

Saw the article on Jalopnik and it seems that the same thieves stole and chopped a S2000 few months ago. Same location, same style of getting rid of the car by chopping up the chassis into parts and then dumping it in a dumpster.

Hope the thieves are caught. Barton spent 8 years building that Supra and put hundred of thousands of dollars into it. I can't imagine what she's going through
