A bit OT....but i'm pretty excited...
too bad it'll only have half of S's power

"Lotus Cars USA CEO Arnie Johnson says a federalized Lotus Elise will be in U.S. showrooms by fall 2003. The American Elise will have a 120-hp low-emissions engine and will sticker at $38,500 fully loaded.

Only 120hp, huh? Is it going to weigh 1400lbs to match performance #s as the stook?

you'd probably be the only one on the road for miles with one.. rare I'll give it that much, but for the bhp and the weight.. I couldn't justify it.. but hey to each his own.. I prefer an Espirit Turbo, even if it's an older model..

120 is pathetic even with the light weight IMO

It should be at least 150, preferably closer to 175.

Particularly for nearly $40k. If you want mid engined and lightweight, go for an MR2-Spyder instead and save $15k. I would love 150+hp, <2000bs, <$30k.

Ahh..guys, these things are not to be sneezed at.
The power to weight ratio tends to make up for a lot, and on a track they will pull slightly better times than a stock s2k.

You can't compare it to the MR2, these things are all aluminium and fibreglass. Basically a road going race car, not some girly 2 door with a weird gearbox!
