Amazing to think that Boxsters have gone up in price so much in a decade or so. Still, they are great cars.

The thing is, I don't want it to be docile. Part of the unspoken contract between sports car and owner is that there will be a tradeoff in ride quality and all other manner of coddling. In return for putting up with steering that must be constantly minded, a sensitive throttle pedal, and the rest, the car will be more exciting to drive. The Boxster's lost some of that. The edge has dulled slightly and the result is a more mature, less emotional car. For the average consumer, that's probably a reasonable tradeoff, but not for the people who truly enjoy driving. The Boxster S, then, is a better-performing car than ever before, but not an entirely better car to my mind. Thankfully, it hasn't oscillated too far from critical mass, and it can always oscillate back if Porsche wants it to.
Sounds like he/she should get Z4M (vert or coupe) instead .

Well... the systematic destruction of the dollar by rampant wasteful practices AND insane amounts of money printing by the crimminals in the Federal Reserve and White House has something to do with it.

904 and Cayman Look at this and you will see why to me the Boxster looks short and fat not long and lean! I mean it is a good design but not one that makes me go OMG WOW! It really stands out the shortcomings when you put it next to a great design. Might not be fair to compare to the legendary 904 but the 904 looks freaking Stunning and the Cayman/Boxster does not . The Boxster design already looks dated to me.

That 904 is ugly. The Boxster is one of the best designs I've seen in the last 5 years.

I think the new Boxster looks great. I'd drive one any day.

I still think the s2000 is the best looking convertible before we go to supercars (CGT by porsche, some ferraris..).
Corvettes are pretty sharp looking too...

I love vettes, but the drop top just doesnt look right (to me) when raised. It looks really nice with it down though. The s2000 just looks "right" up or down. Probably because it was designed to be a drop top from the start. btw, the c6 is going to be my next car if I can afford it

Actually, I'd say the Boxster has gone DOWN in price. Consider that a 2000 Boxster S started at $51,430 MSRP. That's more than the base MSRP of a 265 hp Boxster. So today, you get more car for less money - and that's not even factoring in inflation. That 2000 Boxster S would cost $64,457 in 2010 dollars. Which is even more than today's 315 hp Boxster S!
