Default Thinkin on movin to Evo IX

I got me eyes on this unmodified pristine Evo IX in red.

It's the start of winter here in Aus and S2K + wet weather I have to be cautious (did spin a couple of times last year). I won't think the same can happen with AWD in general unless you drive like an idiot

I like Evo IX looks, handling, and power but firm ride and poverty pack interior are the downsides. I don't have to discuss the S2K as it is our beloved vehicle here

Also I don't mean to discuss pros and cons on each car as I already know them like practically, reliability, handling, power, etc.

Has anyone sold their S2K and bought Evo IX (or any other cars)? How do you feel afterward?

I don't want to sell the S only to regret selling it down the track.

Cheers

Dont drive the S2000 like an idiot and you wont spin either. Rain isnt a big deal, its not like the car is impossible to drive in water.

Do a search, a thread pops up like this every few weeks. You can find them in car talk.

The first link made me

The second one made me

OP, the evo and s2000 are two completely different cars. I have driven an evo, and it is a nice car. That's all though.

The s2000 is a roadster, and one with a feeling that you can never describe. The Handling from both were completely different to me.

I had the pleasure ( ) of driving my s2000 through many north eastern storms this winter. She did pretty darn fine!

I think what it's gonna come to is just space and a bit extra power if that's what your looking for.

Disagree. I have an Evo 9 that I bought new. It's stock. After 3.5 years and 64,000 miles, I have not had a single failure. Not one hiccup. Nada. I track the car, take it to the canyons, slog it through traffic every day, take 1000+ mile road trips. Engine pulls stronger than ever, and doesn't burn a drop of oil. My AP1 on the other hand, drinks oil like a drunken sailor.

The 4G63 engine is bulletproof, as is the drivetrain. The Evo has amazing steering response and feel. Much better than the S2k's. Shifter is not up to par with the S2k's, but then again, no other cars' is. It doesn't have the low seating position of course, but hey it's a rally-bred car.

The Evo is a strong, stout, overbuilt vehicle from the factory. It suffers from idiots who modify it to high heaven, often with no clue as to what they're doing, abuse the living daylights out of it, and when stuff fails, the car gets stuck with an unfair rep for being "unreliable." Very rarely have I heard of a stock part fail.

Keep it stock, keep it maintained, and I bet it'll be as reliable as the S2k...maybe even more.

As for the "fun factor," it's just apples to oranges. I don't have an answer for people who ask me which of my two cars is more "fun."

Think F1 vs. WRC. I don't think you can argue that one is more/less fun than the other. Just different.

Nice links...evos are awesome cars and are capable of going very fast...but at the end of the day it is a fast car that is based off a cheap eco friendly car..the lancer. I do not own a evo (would love to though), but have friends that do and like the previous posts, they are two totally different cars with there own +s and -s. If you can, keep the s2k and buy the evo so you can enjoy both...heck I currently have a Mazdaspeed 3 and my s2k and loving both of them.
