Haha, fair point, but no. The fact that he's selling his car certainly prompted a couple of PMs between us though! I think at the end of the day, I'd be hard pressed to part with the S2000. I think I would really like a Jeep, and I know the family would like it, but I'm such a sports car guy that I'd need to have something quick and nimble to drive even though I don't put a lot of miles on it.
I'm thinking I'll either get a loaded new Wrangler Unlimited and replace my TSX with it down the road (no hurry there) and keep the S2K, or I'll get a used Wrangler for about $20K with the lift, tires, suspension already done and replace the S2K, then get something like a 335i to replace the TSX. Having come from a 335i, and knowing that the S2K is a lot more fun to drive and cheaper to fix, I'll probably go with option one.

The way I see it, I would rather "live through" a 4 hour drive in a jeep than sell the s2000 and keep the TSX just for the occasional road trips. That's assuming 4 hours in a jeep is not very fun.
I too sold my first s2000 and after 5 months i bought another one. Since you've already done that you know it can happen, but if you've outgrown the s2000 then thats a decision you can make, not us.

variety is good. Jeeps are fun. Mine has 5.25 inches of lift and 35" tires. I only ever take the targa top off and have not removed the doors... i am way too lazy... Mine makes it off road once in a while but nothing extreme. i have nitrogen shocks so my ride quality is similar to stock. I have taken 3-4 trips to the beach which is 3-4 hours from my house with the lift on and big tires. Mine will not win any street races for sure!

I'm going against the grain. The family acutally doesn't come first. The relationship between you and your wife should be first. If there is health, love, and good times shared between you and your wife the children will be fine. Many times couples put their children before their relationship and everyone suffers in the end because of it. I say keep the S. Make time for you and your wife to get out alone without the kids. Spend time getting to know each other again and use the S as the vehicle. A different perspective maybe, but one that bears thought.

Healthy marriage = healthy kids. Kids thrive when the parents are showing true connection and love, even if it means the kids themselves get a little less attention. The security of happy, loving parents is huge for kids!

Really what's the opportunity cost of keeping the S? Not that much in the long run...once the kids arrive for us we already have savings going for a Malibu Wakesetter boat. I grew up every weekend in the boat and couldn't be better for spending time with kids and family...I hope my kids can swim!
