Thanks for all the responses. Isf would become daily driver. S2000 performs that duty currently.

the tranny grinds in third and 4th and sometimes pops out of third. Really ruins the experience of driving it. Been looking for a used tranny in the Dallas area and haven't had much luck.

isf appeals because of the price. Going for something in the mid thirties. Rcf is just too expensive. I do like it though. Interior is nice, styling is nice until you get to the front end. Just too pricy for me. Don't want to spend a lot for something that will take daily abuse.

Did you try the usual fix yet? Replace tranny/clutch fluid and adjust clutch master cylinder rod?

No. I did not know about such a fix. Thanks!

You seem to be all over the place, but $4k tops to fix an issue, vs $30k to just have something different begs the question, do you really want the S2000? The fact that you never mentioned a Boxster or Cayman, which can also be had for $30-35k, tells me you really are just looking for something different...

If you needed a daily rather than a pleasure car, I'd take the ISF, but gas mileage. Boxster or Cayman is also a really good option if you don't need the extra room.

Let me add an additional input, I would think it's safe to say that yes, the ISF for your current "needs" are definitely doable. My good friend owns a 08 ISF since new and has had zero issues, granted he's modded it quite a lot, but still, no problems.

It's been his daily for over eight years and it runs like a champ, sounds great - ride quality is quite comfortable, and definitely one of those cars that you glance at then do a double take. Personally, I love the lines and curves of the ISF (or any of the newer vehicles in the Lexus lineup).

For the price, as stated above, the V8 power, reliability, and just overall fun factor while maintaining streetability, is a no-brainer in my opinion. I would get it!

What are the known issues, if any, with the ISF? Are the oldest models safe/reliable buys?

Thought about M3, Boxter, Cayman, Z4M... Need something with some more space. I have had underpowered, torqueless cars all my life. Time for something with some grunt and space.
