Type R future
Is there anything you'd like to see happen with the future of the type R, big or small.
One thing I would really like to see is for Honda to increase displacement to 2.2 like they did for the s2000. I'm not saying the type R needs it, and of course it wouldn't happen. But simply put would be a little reminder of the past with the s2k. I do miss the clean look we had in our S2000 engine bays, new Hondas have an extreme amount of activity under the hood, type R is no exception. The type R price has just increased again not by a crazy amount, but it's interesting to see, it would be nice if Honda threw in some upgrades with each prove increase. Unless they are just accounting for inflation, or other economic adjustments. |
I wish they'd make a touring version with some more relaxed aero bits; similar to a Sti without the big wing. Seems you could buy one for MSRP, drive it for a couple years, and probably get back most of you money if production is kept as low as it currently is!

Make it less hideous and add AWD, and it would at least be on my radar.

Like rhweelz, SH-AWD and quit with the Fast and Festerment looks.

The only thing I ask for is a touring edition, as previously mentioned. I'd also prefer 18" wheels, rather than the 20", but I definitely don't need the added weight, complexity, and decreased MPG of AWD.
Either way, we will see what 2020 brings for it. It seems like people have started to be able to get them sub-MSRP over the past couple months. They are already significantly cheaper than the competition (Golf R and STI) and don't appear to have the reliability and MPG issues of the STI. |

I hate that I care about this, but this is the #1 reason why I'm not seriously interested in one. I don't even necessarily hate how it looks, but the motley assortment of busy styling bits and huge wing (many of which do nothing) says things that I don't want to say.

Make it look less ugly maybe? I don't care what it has/gets. Could be 500 hp and AWD - I'd never consider something that hideous.
Beyond that however, it should be a smaller vehicle. The Civic is freaking huge and the hatchback looks like a CUV. AWD and removal of the ridiculously large and fake air grilles on the front and rear bumpers would be a good start. |
Car looks best in black where none of the faux vents and scoops are noticeable.
