Default Ultima GTR

British car company Ultima (not to be confused with the Nissan Altima) set a new record recently with their GTR.

Pistonheads reports on the new world record for 0 to 100 to 0 set by the Ultima GTR.

[QUOTE]ULTIMA WORLD RECORD! Thursday 19th August

640bhp GTR smashes 0-100mph-0 time by half a second

The Ultima Factory yesterday smashed the production car world record in an Ultima GTR for sprinting to 100mph and back to zero again beating times set by all manner of supercars.

Driven by Ultima Director, Richard Marlow, the factory built Ultima GTR set a new world record time of 10.3 seconds to achieve 0-100mph-0 smashing the previous record by half a second. The British built super car stormed from 0-60mph in 2.8 secs and reached 100mph from standstill in an incredible 5.9 secs before coming back to rest a mere 4.4 secs later.

All of the times were set by a standard, factory built, fully road legal, road tyred Ultima GTR built using all of the high spec factory specified and proven parts. The car was even equipped with a few luxuries such as air conditioning but no traction control devices; launch control systems or ABS braking aids were used.

The car was fitted with its recommended Porsche G50 5 speed transaxle and normally aspirated 640BHP 377ci Chevrolet V8 engine which is a standard offering by the factory from its official engine suppliers American Speed.

Ultima are particularly proud that their record time beat the legendary

Nice videos! I don't know much about the car, but why don't you see him shift at all during the in-car video? Does the Ultima come with F1 Style paddle shifters? I'm guessing the car isn't an automatic ... You hear him shift during the video, but he never moves his left hand (the car is right hand drive).

EDIT - NM, I found the answer to my question, the shifter is on the right hand side of the car with the Porsche 5-speed and RHD:

From www.ultimasports.co.uk/company/faq.html :
"Where is the gear stick situated?

On a RHD the gear change is cill mounted on the right side of the steering wheel when using a G50 transaxle.
The gear change is centre mounted if a Getrag box is used or the car is LHD."

Nice. I've seen one of those at a SpeedVentures event down here in SoCal. I think it was owned by "fluxen". It's really just a race car, so small, and light, and ferociously fast.

any idea how much it would cost to have them build a kit and send it to USA. IIRC, the C&D states that it cost ~$90k. However, if it was $50-60k that would be very very tempting.

I've known of this car for sometime. I actually posted it in the what car would you get for under $100k thread. Sick! However I thought that according to one magazine, IIRC Road&Track, the top three 0-100-0 were some sort of sportbike, Enzo and 3rd the X-50 911. Anyone remember that article? Eitherway good for the Ultima.
