What engine swap for a 1990 civic hatch
I have a freind who owes me money, and instead of money I am going to take the car that has a bad motor in front of my house. I want to make this car a straight up toy. No practical nature at all needed. So I was thinking of an engine swap, but that has never been my field. I was thinking of cramming a crate type R motor, or even an H22, but I need expert advice. If I take the car, I am planning on high (as possible) boost, and NOS because, as I have stated, reliability, and engine liffe are not a big concern.

A V12 Turbo Diesel from the latest Challenger Battle Tank, although you might need to uprate the front springs a bit. BTW the engine will only cost you $400k!...
But the pulling power will be worth it.

well, if you are going turbo
dont go B18C5 (type R) or B18C1 (GSR)
go get LS motor and just get biggest turbo you can afford
but you also got to do motor work on it. you cant just add turbo on and go. i'm sure you know this.
it is a hatch, just by putting C5 or C1 or even H22 motor, you'll kick serious ass anyway, but if you want to be super hardcore go with Turbo.

I plan on buying an engine, and before the install, having all of the internals set for a high boost application. Also, I would be gutting the car down to the bare bones. I would also be upgrading the front axles for sure. I know a window guy who said that we could put plexi on the whole car as well. That would save a ton of weight. We would keep it a full sleeper also.

Go for the biggest baddest motor there is. H22 built and throw on a 100 shot direct port. You will decimate all in your path. C5's will c your tail lights, rustangs will rust and vipers will still be vipers. HaSport makes a real nice mounting kit for the H22 in a civic hatch. I have always wanted to build that set-up. Not many cars will compete with that kind of power in a car that weighs 2,000 pounds. Good luck

I will make the car weigh in at about 1500-1700 when I am done. But the only set back IMO is the FWD. I do not like the FWD setup. But it would not be cheap, or easy to make it RWD.
