I ordered it from the factory, paid under invoice for it, and it's now been in my garage for six years (next month) and 42k miles. It's also turned out to be quite reliable. People keep throwing money at me to take it off my hands. I keep saying, "no". Am I nuts?

I'm looking at S2000s again. Owned my (low mileage!) example for almost eight years and traded it on my NSX. When I buy the next S2000, I will also keep it permanently, as it was a mistake to give mine up in the first place. I wish I'd found a way to keep both the S2000 and the NSX, it's that special.

I save my car ADD for my daily driver, I don't ever keep one for more than 2 1/2-3 years, and so with the last daily driver I switched to leasing. Next up on the lease parade is probably a NC1 NSX, once my TLX lease ends. After that, maybe a plain-jane 911 so I can taste the P-car Kool-Aid. We'll see.
Those ctsv wagons were a pretty penny new. I'd love to have one of those.

Either a 997.2 GT3 manual, 991.2 GT3 manual, or a Cayman GT4.

I used to want a E46 M3, but it's not the right car for us as a daily driver, and as a weekend/fun car, I am bored of BMW driving dynamics and it doesn't beat the S2000. Maybe one day, but I don't have the desire for it today.
Surprisingly re: fun cars, I can't really think of anything else I'd really want to replace the S2000 besides a Porsche GT car...that tells you how good the S2000 is!

I own my day one car already. It’s a 997.2 GT3. It’s the last generation of 911 with the Mezger motor and hydraulic power steering. This thing communicates so well, has such tight body control, and looks and sounds so right. 991 Porsches have eclipsed the 997.2 GT3 on performance, but they’ve grown significantly in size and also lost some of the analog feel. The 7.2 GT3 is in my personal Goldilocks zone, and the only reason I’d let it go is to step up to a 7.2 RS.

when you say the 991 grew significantly in size, you know it’s like 1.5 inches bigger?... it’s also lighter. People think this about the 991 because the design is so much better. Think taking a 50’s house and knocking down walls to make it open concept. Same size but feels bigger.

997 GT3 is the GT car I’d have too but it’s hardly due to size. I’m a cab person so I have a 991 which is by far the best cab 911 design ever

That's one I'd go for too, but new Targa models are so wicked looking...

The new targa is perfect IMO. I just wish the price was a bit more reasonable.

Targa 4S with all leather and cool paint job is up there in price, but is also special car. Add in Ceramic brakes and you got a keep sake car!

I felt the difference in size due partly to the roomier cabin, but mostly from the sense that the 991 was taking up more space on the road. Here’s the visual comparison:

that’s a weird angle... and the RS has Turbo hips... the interior is roomier. The wheelbase was much more expanded than the exterior size. Again, if I wasn’t a cab person I’d have a 997 manual... but it’s not due to size. I’ve also heard people say the AP2 is so much bigger and show pictylike yours at strange angles.
