I am also of the opinion that a roadster is front engined. Rear engines cars are spiders (spyder?). Additionally, I was brought up that a true roadster, and one of the things so special about the S2000 is that it was created as an open top. Of course disqualifing my beloved GTC...
That really shrinks the list of candidates. But I'd personally just say "two seater convertible" and leave it at that, because I think it makes sense to include the Boxster.

Fun fact: It's usually spelled Spider for Italian cars and Spyder for non-Italian (Italians don't use a "y" in the spelling). So Audi R8 Spyder, Ferrari F430 Spider. /pedantic

I didn't include the Boxster because then the BMW would have stood zero chance of getting a vote.

I wonder if BMW did any studies on how the consumer would look at the new Z4? Such a big majority are not liking it at all... Are we not their consumer base then? Could be.

It's like Rolls Royce asking us what our preferences are for the next model when maybe. %.02 of members here are real potential buyers.

It's possible, but then again I'd imagine more than a tiny sliver of S2ki members would be interested. The S2000 came out 19 years ago and they don't offer it anymore... all of us owners and former owners are older and more mature (well, some of us), and could conceivably be interested in a quicker, more luxurious, less hardcore version of the S2000. But I'm hearing crickets - I think because most of us don't love the styling, are turned off by the lack of a manual, lack of M version, high cost, and likely unimpressive weight.

It's just kinda "same old BMW" to me. As an enthusiast, I don't see much to get excited about over a 2-generation-old Z4 M with hydro steering, manual, and 8k rpm I-6. That actually was a grown-up S2000. I've only owned 5 cars in my 18+ years of driving, one of them an S2000 and two BMW M cars. BMW really missed the mark if someone like me hardly cares about this car.

I doubt anyone on this forum would take a Z4 over a Boxster given the choice, and apparently we're finding the same to be true of the F-Type, save one lonely vote.
