Why FWD?

I thought FWD cars offered more inside room too.
Example, the civics with that flat bottom rear seats.
FWD cars can be fun though, Integra Type R, GSR, Civic Si, etc. they are all fun cars to drive. Also can be made to be very competitive on the track.

And don't forget.......front wheel drive is harder on tires so more tires sold, harder on front brakes so more brake maintenance and parts sold, involves more moving parts in the half shafts and boots so more maintenance and service involved etc etc.
The auto manufacturers (I believe) also were very much aware of the increased profits for their parts and service departments when they made the switch to fwd.
Also fwd vehicles involved in accidents, especially involving the front half of the vehicle, are much more likely to be written off due to the increased cost of repair. So a few more cars sold too and....... a major reason why automobile insurance rates have skyrocketed.

Having a high hp, long-geared V8 car is the best of both worlds. Good fuel economy at highway cruising speeds (even in excess of 100mph) and killer power when you want it.
