So personally, I think it's safe to say the S2000, regardless of which model, makes a good bit more power than an FR-S.
I would have to agree. If we look at it from the perspective of drivetrain losses, a BRZ putting down 173whp is experiencing 14.5% in drivetrain losses. That is right at the ~205whp mark we see from AP1s on less-conservative dynos. This is not to say that either the whp or drivetrain loss figures are accurate, but considering their similar layouts, it can be inferred that the two cars experience similar discrepancies between crank hp and whp.

Yeah, can't say I've ever seen an S2000 dyno at 183 whp. It's certainly not a typical number. Early AP1s I've seen were all very close to 200 hp, plus or minus a few hp.

I've seen a few around, but I imagine it would take a pretty conservative dyno. I doubt that's the case with Inside Line's machine. I don't think car companies would be too happy if their cars were reported to put down 10-15 less horsepower than they should.

I wonder how this engine compares to the K20. Id like to see a dyno with the "magic intake."

Here's a dyno from an RSX-S during the same dyno day as my S2000 I posted above.
179 hp, 131 lb-ft. That's more powerful than the FR-S, but with less torque.

No way. Less power, same weight, no drop top. The S2000 is hard to replace in it's price range.

It will be interesting to see. The K20 with a race header, exhaust and tune is capable of VERY impressive gains for an N/A car with simple bolt ons. The BRZ/FRS is not as rev happy either.

In it's current state I definitely would not. If they actually do release a 250HP STI version that isn't over priced and has the right upgrades over a standard one I'd consider it.
