It's already being done....look no further than Toyota. Who owns GM? Who has the tech to hack cars at will, anytime and any place? Who was a major recipient of car sales in the immediate aftermath of the Toyota wayward car fiasco fueled by the government controlled government media complex? Answer these questions and you have your culprit.

Why doesn't it seem feasible?
If services like OnStar can remotely lock/unlock the car, shut it down, etc - whats to say someone else couldn't figure it out?
I think the point these stories are trying to drive home isn't that its a huge threat - although you seem like the kind of guy that would also say "what are the odds its going to happen to me" if it were occurring - but to address potential security/safety issues that may arise due to increased reliance on internet conectivity
Fix it before its an issue.
