30k budget ... where would your money go?
As above , what car would you be looking at for max 30k?
The s2k’s staying and I’m just not feeling the hot hatch I have , so looking at what’s about
thanks

What will the car be used for?
For my my own needs, 30k budget I would be looking at a Lotus Evora, BMW M3 V8 and go faster bits, BMW M235 with go faster bits. If I wanted something very track focussed, Caterham R300/R400 or a well built Lotus Elise with a K20/Nitrons etc bunged on.
Taking running costs into account, I'd get an FK2 Civic Type R of a Seat Leon Cupra sub 8 and get a spare set of wheels with sticky tyres on and pocket the change.

I guess a fun every other day car . To be used all year round .. 4 seats would be good ... really quite fancy a mint low mileage e46 m3 , but finding a good one will be difficult I think !

If you want something comfy and quick maybe a 7 or 5 series with a big motor. Or an S4, S6... S8
an E46 is old.. not ideal for a daily and they do have the diff mount issue
i dont find heavy fast cars that exciting, you could get a cracking exige which would not lose money for 30k but prob couldnt use it every day
the new civic type r is supposed to be very good. But wrong wheel drive.
One of those big Lexus 5l?
Evora must be tempting
get a loan and buy an Exige S2 ..

I'd keep the S2k as said.
Buy an Integra DC5 - for winter fun
Accord Type R - for long distance motoring
Civic 1.6 VTi Estate - for lugging stuff
Keep the change for running costs. and a bike license.

The s2000 not going anywhere..... so that sort of rules out a lotus ( 2 of the same sort of car , obviously the lotus is even more driver focused than the S ) not into massive cars ......

the E46 is one of the worst rusting modern BMWs you can buy and the M3 has the well known subframe issue as well
they are old cars now
I think it would be a bad idea to use a really good one as a daily/alternative daily - miles will kill the value as the bills will mount
need to know more about your circumstances to make a recommendation
an M135i or Golf R will be a far better bet than an old M3 and way less than your budget
NB I do not subscribe to the current fashionable idea that all old cars are classics
