Alfa Romeo Spyder 3.2 V6 JTS Q4
Anybody have any experience of the above car? I think they are great looking cars and maybe an S2000 replacement in a couple of years..
Apparently the V6 is a lovely lump.
Be interested to hear from anybody that has owned or driven one.
Paul.
P.s I still love my S and have no immediate plans to replace it though.

I have a 3.0 V6 Alfa Lump, and it's not a bad engine at all. Bags more torque
& torque steer
than the S. I suspect that the S is a fair bit lighter than the Spyder.
The V6 is about 10-25 % thirstier in my experience.
The V6's are increasingly rare in recent Alfa's - predominantly oil burners.
I'm thinking about getting a 3.2 GT or 156 in the future.

Yeh it weighs about 1650kgs thats a lot of weight for a little convertible. Its not as quick as the S but just has the lovely italian styling.
Maybe the 2.2 JTS might be a better option 185bhp..
Do you mean the V6 burns oil?

You'll notice the weight difference immediately.
s2kscot had one for a year or two, but I don't think he comes on here anymore. He recently chopped it in for a 2wd with the smaller engine, I think on the basis that it would be cheaper to run, bottom out less, and perhaps not much slower on the twisties in real life.
His old Alfa certainly did leave a fair bit of its undercarriage over roads across the Highlands if memory serves me right.
Lovely interior, great styling, and nice noise though.

Best looking roadster on the road IMO.
Shame it's just too heavy, IIRC even with all that power it struggles to get to 60 in 7 seconds which is a serious disappointment.
The new 370Z roadster will be a much better option with more power and less weight.

An Alfa V6 is a joy to behold.
Unfortunately the Brera is too heavy to deliver on the engine's promises.
The Prodrive fettled 2wd Brera S apparently improves (the weight of the 4wd system being at least part of the problem.) but it may be too little too late. A 3.2 GT is probably a better buy: cheaper and with a useable back seat.

That 'rev matching' feature is something I've longed to see on cars; since most people insist on driving 'stick' yet clearly are incapable, it's indespensible.
It also permits some wonderfully clever and smooth automatics.
The Infiniti version even comes with 4WS on the version with the sportiest pretentions.
