It's also due to the EPA meaning the manufacturer had to warrant emissions for 50,000 miles.

Hence moderns are engineered thus, as Mark & Mikey suggest.

The greenies have proved useful to us again.

Well, the 'Ludes up to 70 & the Civ to 60K, so we'll see if Hondas are better-engineered than BMWs!

PS, If Minnie the Moocher's selling her Legacy, I might be interested.

Nah, very unlikely to let go of it for the next few years unless something odd happens, couldn't be happier with it*

I can honestly say I thought you'd be bored of it a long time ago.

I reckon you held on to it just to prove me wrong.....

It does seem unusual for a car to get under Gad's skin like that!

Having said that, if there IS a car that so perfectly fits one's purposes, why not?

And after all, there's not a lot of modern rubbish that one could replace it with without it seeming a tad retrograde.

Hard to say if it will make five years

It has passed the 100K mark

But would still easily fetch over £10K

And until I have the satisfaction of a superpower in the garage

Whatever I drive day to day, I can't see a replacement anytime soon

The biggest problem with changing cars is the unknown, and the more powerful the car, the greater the unknown and the bigger the potential bills

I own one now and came very close to owning two very recently.

So fickle.

At that point and if it's running well, which it appears to be, it's almost worth considering holding it for another 5 years.

This is so true.

But 10 large is almost 'scrap' value of a car of that performance - bit like with NSXs.

So it's definitely worth hanging on to, until it becomes unsatisfactory to repair.

I'm not too far behind.

Very difficult car to replace - almost pointless.
