I regularly see twats, mostly in vans, trying to do the same thing when I ride in and out of London.

Being in the right lane in any queue has gone the way of the dodo.
Trouble is it reaches a tipping point when even the sensible drivers think f**k this, after being queue jumped, or cut up by someone switching lanes at the last minute.

Why all the hate with bikes???? And bikers?????
Are you asking whether it's safe to "stay at the back of the pack" - the number of question marks indicates perhaps you are.
Or, are you telling us it's not safe to stay at the back of the pack? In which case, what utter bollocks.

Haven't read through all ten pages, has the OP said what made him decide to go from being in the queue (stopped) behind the BMW to filtering between the cars?

1. I don't mind, or care about filtering
2. I'm not anti bike
3. I'm not anti Evo - although this was is driven by a bit of a dick
4. I don't own or ride a motorbike ( I do own a bike though and in traffic I would take my place in the queue rather than filter to the front. Having said that I wouldn't have the acceleration to get out of the way that a bike has, everyone would be queueing up behind me to overtake again. Not all cyclists are this sensible)

Yes, he didn't have the space to filter on the left and could only move to the right when the BMW moved forward and gave him the space to filter into the right lane. Perfectly normal.

It certainly has, there are a number of places on my commute, in and out of the city, where I see long tailbacks caused by twats using right hand turn lanes to jump the queue and then trying to push in at the last minute.

Cam across the junction again and did the opposite this time. Had to go left instead of the right I initially intended to go.

You take your conclusions with your amount of experience
