Default Dealer mark up

As per the title really.

I obviously can't post details of my car, as I am not a member, however I'm due to sell my car in the very near future as off to company car land again.

There are benefits of a quick sale via a dealer, however I dont want to pay through the nose to achieve this vs selling privately.

Looking at the difference between private & trade prices on autotrader it would appear that dealers will like to make c.

Thanks - same dealer too, so it could work out for me.

Expecting a long discussion about credit crunch, weather, imports, CO2 tax, price of coffee etc.

I sold mine there too, on a car that age then I would say you are about right 2k - 3k max.

Given they only have to provide another 3 months warranty, it does seem a fairly decent mark up.

Will see what they come back with......

Usually a 15-20% markup on used cars and 5-7% on new cars.

Used cars cost more to remarket when acquired e.g. vallet, marketing, service, MOT, warranty etc.

Thanks Moff - I could understand the associated 'on-costs' if it were in a terrible state & outside of manufacturers warranty etc, but give the following I cant see why it would really cost too much for them:

It wont need a vallet, I have OCD & its in a damn better condition that it would be after they have washed it using sponges & a chamois

MOT not relevant until Jan 09 & warranty already covered for 9 of the 12 months by Honda so little concern for the dealer.

Oh, and Carrie.............
