DR: Focus RS v Megane R26R @ Silverstone GP
Cracking video over on Drivers Republic with the Focus RS taking on the R26R with lap time comparison of which is quicker! I won't spoil the result!

It's also worth remembering Silverstone is long, high speed track so should favour cars with more power like the RS over cars like the R26R and JDM Civic.
They also tested a JDM Civic Type R and a few other hot hatches last year (toward the bottom of the DT TV page so you get a good comparison of hot hatches abilities on track.
It's also worth watching the JDM Civic and Mini JCW videos if you want to see the difference between a good trackday car and a flawed one!

Thanks for posting.
RS 1.5 ton though! The more i see/hear of the R26R the more impressed i am seems like a cracker.
Though i'd rather supercharge an S and see both of them off .

Those videos just make the FD2 Civic seem perhaps one of the best track day cars. I assume it was on standard tires and if on Semi slick R888's it would not be far off R26R's lap time and it is certainly a better looking car.

I have to agree that overall the JDM Civic comes out of that comparison well, as quick as the Focus, and with it's lighter weight I think it would make more of tyres like R888's if it were shod with them.
A comparison between the Mini JCW lap (2.27.9) and the Civic is probably best at showin how good a track car the civic is and how turbo delivery can be so wrong!

The aural pleasures of the VTec as well compared to the turbo cars; The R26R just sounds dull by comparison. I'll wager that the Civics gearbox is superior as well.
The Civic just looks far more engaging to me and on a better tyre would almost certainly match or go quicker than the R26R's time.
I've driven neither car but at a distance my money would be going to Honda.

We have a memeber on here with the only Mugen RR version of the FD2 Civic in Europe, this is quicker still

Mikey K has I think (at Anglesey).
As a comparison, IIRC he had a max speedo reading of 118 at the end of the "straight". I managed 114. See here https://www.s2ki.com/forums/index.php?showt...&#entry14687592
Of course, on a track, it's more a matter of how well one takes the preceding corner (and I'd had two days to practice).
