Default Excellent F1 day at Silverstone today

Definitely the fastest S2000 colour

Testosterone back in Hamilton's veins a very contentious bump at Copse in lap 1 saw Verstappen crash off. Then Leclerc nipped through and, after a red flag while they cleared the track and rebuilt the wall, he seemed to keep the lead no probs until Hamilton chased him down (despite a ten second penalty) on new tyres and muscled his way past at ... Copse with just three laps to go. Hamilton is a very lucky bunny. Until Verstappen gets back at him. Hung(a)ry next

Luckily this was on live free to air channel 4 in the UK.

Great day at Silverstone but probably COVID was the real winner ...

Yes, an entertaining race, and Red Bull have reinforced my general dislike of them (not that they care ) with all their whining.
Live by the sword, die by the sword so far as Verstappen's driving is concerned.

Agreed and now he knows Hamilton will not give way he will perhaps act less like a (red) bull in a china shop.

What struck me is how much stronger front wheel attachment is than the rear. You could see it flapping about straight away.

The drivers will know this to be the case I would assume. If so this tends to support the case against Hamilton for not backing right off .

You guys are on bad drugs. "Sir" Lewis is making a habit of this type of driving. What do you suppose Albon's take is on Lewis's habits? Better keep his head up. Mad Max may have mellowed over time, but I expect the red mist will undoubtedly reappear big time. Without Bottas moving over like his lap dog, Lewis would not have won the race.

Hmm...

I acknowledge Hamilton was at fault, but Horner and Marko's reactions are ludicrous.

The wheel banging down the Wellington straight was completely unnecessary from Verstappen.

I also notice how Hamilton is making friends with many of the younger drivers, Norris last race, and being very chummy with Leclerc today. I note Leclerc said he thought it was "a racing incident".

Drugs? Moi?

This is motor racing not ballroom dancing but nice to see competition back.

Lots and lots of what ifs but no way Bottas doesn't move aside so the team can go for a 1-2 not just 2-3. That's a ten point swing.

Charlie Ferrari was getting oot of LHs way pronto, he saw what happened the first time he went for that move, Lewis’s move on Verstappen seemed rash when he surely had the pace to whiz past on the straight once DRS was enabled, that move could have seen them both out in that attack.

I don't see a 'move on Verstappen' as just keeping going for the corner. But agree they could both have been out.

ATEOTD he knew Lewis was there, he expected Lewis to back off. Lewis didn't.
Another lesson for Max. Stupid split second mistake to expect the current world champion to give in whilst he had a wheel ahead. Overall racing incident - maybe, some may view.
Overall, I also conceded Hamilton is slightly at fault - however, this is one of motor racings rare high speed corners that does fit 2 cars tightly. It's a vague racing line because you can go up the inside and push in, like he did with Leclerc.

Max should have just about conceded, and I've no doubt he would have overtaken Hamilton further up the road.

Max will be the world champion though IMO, its written in the stars that he will take over from Lewis. He's got the eye of the tiger like Lewis - the rest are all just excellent talented racers with varying car performances. Very surprised how Bottas has fell away - his seat is 100% in danger now.

CBA to start a new thread but today's race from Sochi was a good 'un.
I listened in the background live on BBC Radio 5 live sport I think it was.
I for one will be watching channel 4 race highlights 5:30pm starting today.
