Default Golf buggy stuns Goodwood

With little (very little) drama

https://www.pistonheads.com/news/motorsport/i-d-r-first-electric-car-to-win-the-fos-shootout/38369

The video is funny yet depressing. It just feels wrong to me. My name is Jason and I think I am a petroholic.

I was at Goodwood and I wasn't stunned

I don't regard EVs in the same light as cars

They may have four wheels but I put them in their own category

They may be faster than a fossil powered car but the same may be true of a hovercraft for all I care

An autonomous vehicle will one day go round a GP track or the 'ring faster than a human

I know which I'd rather watch

Young kids growing up will have a different attitude which is fine by me

I expect kids born in the next couple of decades wil look back on petrol engined cars much as I look back on steam engines running today - charming anachronisms

Nicely put. I don't give a pigs arse about all those EV's currently on the market or in the development pipeline. Until the law prohibits me, I will continue to drive a petrol powered car/bike.
Yes an EV will be faster and "better" one day. But they are just machines to me, much like a washing machine or dishwasher. What I love about petrol cars is they have foibles and won't handle properly and that gives them a particularly human quality because it makes mistakes. You can then build a relationship, an understanding that other people just won't get.

I was at FOS on Saturday. Didn't see the VW thing at all (thankfully).
However that bloody Roborace thing was an absolute travesty, what a proper load of shite. Not only did it tie the course up for about 20 minutes or so it was so un spectacular people around me were moaning more than me, which is difficult
I want to see a driver fighting the fricking thing, not some computer geek.
Rant over.

I had to stay well away from Bonhams as I am sitting on a pile of cash earmarked for building works

I can be impulsive too so any tempting titbits could have resulted in a big problem!

However, I heard it sold for about £140K which is a joke price and seven times estimate so any tempting would have stopped at about £22K for me

Didn't realise they were that cheap (£22k not 140!) given the hard on the classic collectors have for porkies

Loved the show. Those old 911s are tiny things compared to the modern monsters.. probably fall to bits even more though
