what next?
Hey, thinking of changing over to a bmw m3 e46 smg.
has anyone else made the move? any feedback?
not looking forward to winter weather in scotland, basically I hate driving the car when the roof is not down so thats either at night or if its raining which is most of the time up here.
Thanks guys/gals.

I am indeed.
Slightly less involving, WAY more practical and comfy, more expensive to run, and a TON of power. Cheaper to insure.
I went manual though. Most of the threads in UK car talk are now about E46 M3's.
Be aware the prices are dropping all the time.

Do you know anything about SMG's?
Im going to hold out for one with the full shabang dvd/sat/nav heated seats/xenons/ etc etc
needs to be black with red or silver/red thought.
Thinking of waiting 3-4 months to see how the depreciation is and petrol ( its expected to be

Xenons are standard.
I'm silver grey with imola red leather.
SMG's are a manual gearbox with some hydraulic and electronic trickery in front of them. Supposedly eat clutches and in my mind, is more to go wrong.
It sounds great, more hard edged and metallicy than the S2000. And I don't miss the last 1000rpm either.

I drove an SMG equipped M3 last year. E46 model. Actually I donutted it round a field at LM. Then passengered it later in the day.
In 'sport' mode the changes made driver and espcecially passenger almost headbang the dash on every change - very very harsh.
Nice relaxed but muscular drive in full auto though, but I couldn't live with the sport mode.

Someone should post the "I am thinking about changing to an E46 M3" to a sticky
Good luck!
The SMG is indeed aggressive, but most people report that it is much easier to live with (even in Sport mode) if you let off the gas slightly when changing gears.
