Somewhat remmnicent of the '95 Monza Grand Prix.
The Ferrari of Jean Alesi lost the onboard camera that fell into the path of Gerhard Bergers Ferrari and smashed the suspension

BBC are now saying he's undergone surgery for "skull damage".

Clearly this is pretty serious, and is a lot more than just precuationary.

I don't remember anything ever hitting a driver's head like this, and now it seems we've had two on consective weekends.

Looks even worse on this. Look at the G sensor, also had the awareness to put his foot on the brake but looks like the throttle was still on fully.

Hope he's going to be okay - risk of long term injury must be high given the smack on the head followed by the impact with the fence.

I wonder if we'll see him in an F1 car again now he has a son?

i am sure years ago[maybe 70's] a driver was killed by a fire extinguisher after a marshall was hit by another car.

I can see Hamilton being in front at the 1st corner with his KERS.

I wonder if he will stay there.

BBC F1 Mole's fuel adjusted positions:

1 Sebastian Vettel (lap 20)
2 Mark Webber + 0.242 seconds (lap 19)
3 Nico Rosberg +0.319 (lap 18)
4 Lewis Hamilton + 0.394 (lap 18)
5 Heikki Kovalainen +0.470 (lap 20)
6 Jenson Button +0.562 (lap 25)
7 Alonso +0.592 (lap 13)
8 Kimi Raikkonen +0.987 (lap 18)
9 Kazukia Nakajima +1.120 (lap 20)

i imagine thats because he was unconcious. either way lets hope he makes a speedy recovery.

he may not race for the next two or three gp, but would fezza use their test drivers as stand in or a certain Michael S ?

Renault has/had the option of KERS but not heard if they're running it at the moment

I doubt Schumacher would get back in a car again, he's got too much to lose.

It does look like Red Bull have this sown up again. I wonder if Vettel will kill his tyres and that'll let Webber take the win?

I think the Ferrari reserve is between Badoer and Marc Gene, and I don't think Badoer has raced in donkey's years. I can't imagine MS would want to make a comeback like that, but you never know.
