Lease Options - CR-V
They said it will depreciate quicker than the lease, which I think is probably true. Should be available in 2 weeks, price includes tax for the trr, which is £300 a year on it being a petrol. Now ijust need to find the best way invest the equity from the civic to pay the monthly lease.. rbs shares maybe
Phil,
Good work.
Now you simply MUST but some GAP insurance if you haven't already.
Running without is risky as you may end up footing the shortfall in event of a total loss,
and then having to cover some or all of the outstanding repayment.
The lease broker will sell GAP to you at inflated prices, as do dealers.
If you already signed you can probably cancel inside the cool off period (?)
I use ALA for all my cars - the online calc will estimate how much you should cover for.
I expect 10k over two years is more than enough and should cost under a £100.
ALA also do scratch and dent cover too - VERY worth having when you see the cost of even a smart repair these days...
I think two year S&D was only about £200 and you can claim several times for panel repairs.

cheers Steve, I'll look into it, I hadn't considered GAP to be honest, certainly didn't sign for it and wasn't even offered it by the dealer (Bristol Honda). I'll ask what the situation is when they call with delivery date, but will certainly look at ALA, thanks for the heads up.
You're welcome.
ALA clearly show 'GAP for Leased Vehicles'- this is the one you need.
It's a two way insurance really. 'Back to Invoice' plus covering remaining rentals in the contract.
Covers the shortfall of what it cost the lease company and what your insurance might pay,
plus the loss of any outstanding rentals which many will small print as 100%
It could be expensive if the worst happens, especially harsh if its early in the term.
Can't believe the broker/dealer missed the trick.
They make a huge amount on GAP policies as you can see if you compare their quote to ALA or similar.
I took the BMW 'Back to Invoice GAP' with the last car to get it home safely.
I had the 14days to cancel of course, bought ALA BTI GAP online and then rang BMW and cancelled with no cost.
BWM about £450
ALA about £110.
Enjoy!

looks pretty nice in this pic, but these are 18" wheels, we have teeny weeny 17's... Interestingly, one of the new CR-V's in the dealer was on winter tyres from the factory. I questioned the sales chap whether they all came on winter tyres... confusion was strewn across his face and he said Honda put new tyres on all cars, whatever they have at the time... hmm. He didn't know what a winter tyre was it would appear.

Don't post pics of the new CofE; they are invariably dreadful!
They actually look fine in the metal and nowhere near as big-faced and overbodied as in the pics.
Norton Way had a white one in the showroom and I felt it looked like a LR Ewok would look like if it were to be driven by a real human and not by a badly-drawn cartoon character.

for those remotely interested in bland as it comes motoring, i picked up the new family wagon last night. It passed the first test in that I flung the bike in the boot with little 'jiggery pokery' and was on my way in a few minutes.
It is however (and I quote the wife) "a bit boring". This after the "I love it, yes let's definitely get one" only 2 weeks prior in the showroom.
Anyway, my transport is sorted for the next 2 years in a rather dull CRV, but it's inoffensive really and feels smaller than I thought it would, more X3 than X5 (but longer) which is nice.
The one thing that really gets me though, being poverty spec, it has a plastic steering wheel (leather was standard on SE not S)... why oh why would any manufacturer feel it necessary to skimp on £5 worth of hide to wrap around a steering wheel. The 'leather look' is, as you can imagine, shite. Hell, I might even have to get one of those fluffy pint covers. It does have dual climate, start stop, cruise as standard, which I was not expecting really and a leather gear knob... ooh err.
It also came on Continental M+S tyres... which is strange, will be nice in the winter, but the July summer upon us, might make it feel even squidgier than usual.
The worst thing... when I collected, it was out front of the showroom parked to a rather nice S of which an elderly chap was taking delivery. I couldn't help think how these things go full circle. I was 27 collecting my S just 4 years ago with the world at my feet... now I got this heap of junk and the old boy was getting into an S!!!

No, you're thinking of a Honda That's, not an It's.
I bought a Leg End for a few buttons & a pen knife (I cannot hack depreciation any more) and it's the funniest barge imaginable. It thinks it's a GT86.
Can you still buy leather steering wheel covers like you could in the 1970s? Plastic wheels are smeg.
