Default Manual over-ride of autobox

Just got an autobox car on the works car scheme because they are cheap.
You can override the auto with paddles on the wheel or with the selection lever
The direction used on the shift lever seems weird to me though.
Which way would you reckon is correct in the poll?

Mine does pull back = up and push forward = down.

Sequential boxes are like that too so when you're accelerating it's easier to pull it back and when you're braking it's easier to push it forward.

The usual logic for this is that it would be forwards for downshifts as that's easier when you are braking.

Porsche decided differently with Tiptronic, where it was forwards for upshifts. They have continued this with PDK and I think it applies to all VAG cars. I suspect most manufacturers have followed this trend.

Think it's forward up/back down on the Leg End, but I use the paddles.

I've never really used the stick to shift in mine either in the 2yrs I've had it, just seems a bit pointless to take your hands off the wheel when you don't have to.

Right paddle for up, left paddle for down, I don't use the stick. Although I think it's forward for down, back for up.

PDK is WRONG. Like properly wrong.

Good, Im glad I'm not the only one that thinks it is weird
The car is push forward for up and pull back for down. It seems really unintuitive for the reasons you guys have stated

We normally get quizzed after having the cars for a few months so it is nice to have something I can complain about properly
