Default The Replacement...

E92 gone Free'd up some money...

Always wanted one of these, prefer the looks over the lotus counterpart. Said id sit on the money from my car but it lasted 48 hours before id purchased this...

Liverpool to Exmouth and back via Cheddar Gorge and surrounding road in the day, tired now!

Came with a few bits on - ATS wheels, rear diffuser, carbon spoiler, hardtop, exhaust and a couple of other bits.

Plans are to get it tidied up to my standard. Its already on AD08R tyres which is good as it should see a few trackdays. Handles well but needs an injection of power (its the 2.2 na currently) so a supercharger will probably be on the cards early next year if i can wait that long...

Interesting choice. Nice to see something a bit different.

Is the perceived wisdom that supercharging makes for a better car than the stock turbo and does the cost stack up price wise with the same choice?

turbo cars seems to be 4-5k dearer... can supercharge for half that cost and the 2.2na is an aluminium block. think the car comes out about 40-50kg lighter than the turbo motor.

its lacking power, comfort, reliability but my god its fun to drive! back to basics. The M3 was so long legged youd be in triple figures before you knew it.
I had a £100 mx5 a while back and loved how you had to kill it to make progress.... im sounding old now.... only 29!

Always really liked these, the charger is an easy swap off a chevvy or something from GM isn't it?

a bit of fettling and it would be proper quick ..

Getting quite rare too with the hefty repair costs if dinged

Good choice. I always thought that the Lotus sibling looked like the bastard child of a skateboard and a dune buggy.

Brilliant left-field choice!

I used to detest the styling when they were first launched, but the with few I've seen recently, it's really grown on me.

Prefer the Opel grille, natuerlich...

Did my ARDS at Oulton Park in a VX220 (albeit a turbo which is heavier.) They are incredible to drive and great fun, masses of tuning options due to sharing the 2.2 lump with Astra's & Vectra's. I remember an old wakeboard pal had a supercharged 2.2 many moons ago, he described it as being quicker than a Turbo but far more tractable and usable due to the broad powerband.
