Selling a reg
MODS - this isn't a covert for sale ad. Please delete the reg if it's a problem
Has anyone here sold a registration? Not something I've done for about 30 years and can barely remember I'm a bit suspicious of the dealers - no real reason admittedly - and am just wondering if an ebay auction is the best way I quite like ebay as you're very unlucky to not receive the market value and it's done and dusted quickly Plate was on my first S2000 having been transferred from my written off beemer Obvious novelty value to another BMW owner or a dealer I'm not deluded about values, or greedy, it's just another thing in my life that needs to go as I'm having a massive clearout/audit of everything I own as a result of having to move stuff into storage while my house is being refurbed I don't see myself in another beemer so it's pointless holding onto it Thoughts? oh yeah, it's M3 FSH |
I think you would sell that quite easy if you put it up for similar price to what you can buy M3 plates for from the DVLA.
If you work out what you want for it and make an ebay ad I could post it on the M3 forum for you to get people looking at it. Not sure I am allowed to just advertise it on there for you because it's not mine but I'm sure an ebay link shouldn't be a problem. Edit, dvla shows cheapest is M3 DXC at £375, then it goes up to 400 and 450 quickly so maybe you could try 450 or maybe even 500 as it's more likely to be someones initials than DXC would be. |

I'll do a bit of research and post again I still favour auction over classified ad but let's see |
Yes I'd auction it too but figured you might want to put a reserve
Let me know when you put it on ebay then I'll copy it to there, I've seen more people post ebay links in the for sale bit so that shouldn't be a problem. |
As an aside, I thought the plate died with the car when it was w/off.
Is there a way around that, or did the law change, or is my brain making stuff up again? |
FSH = full service history. As if :D
|
If you transfer the plate post accident and pre write off it's fine, me I'd decide how much I want and advertise it at that, no PayPal/ebay fees and less hassle.

Nick - it's on retention. It was originally on a car I wrote off but I retained it and stuck it on my first S2000. Been on retention since about 2006.
Martin - I'd prevaricate too long deciding what I want so I'd rather let the market decide I think. Now can't find the certificate I only found yesterday... |
Yeah - that was the question. I presume you put it on retention before you wrote off the BMW? Handy, Harry...
