Default SLK55

Thoughts on an SLK55? These are available for very low teens now and I have seen one at £11k on an 05 plate. I was trawling the AT app last night for something interesting (not necessarily fun) to run alongside a boring lease family car. I certainly don't need a car, but something interesting would / could be fun and this is a very cheap way into a 55 AMG, just for the noise really. I know it wont be 'engaging' but not fussed about that really as won't be using on track.

Could this be a future classic?

I also saw a nice black 09 S2k for £11k as had 103k on it...

A friend loves his 335i that be picked up for about 6k. Now the leased family car is sewn up for another few years, I could get itchy. I really want an exige but funds just wont stretch and unlikely to as prices are on the rise. I had my chance a few years back and missed the boat.

It's god a good rear, that's about it

If I wanted something fun to run alongside a daily, it would be something fun... and 15k buys a lot of fun (Elise)

SLK is not fun and I've never read a positive review other than it has a massive engine.

(don't do it Phil!)

Cheaper entrance into a 55 AMG is the CLS55 - this is a bargain supercar at the moment!

Look at the cars which have turned 'classic' recently, at least price wise, things like the E46 M3, with CSLs, CS etc rising most

i think the Boxster S is worth a punt though bills can be high

you could go extreme, kit car or elise as Mark suggests. Buy right and it'll hold your cash and both are simple/cheap. Same with an S2000. Early Cayman S. An early superhatch.
