Not really, the Peugeot has 208PS, which means it's pretty fast, but I don't really need that much. Somewhere around 150 would be fine (again, I mostly sit at 75mph with the cruise control on). 1 series with 170-ish is looking favourite at the moment (no M-Sport, though)

Mind you, 150 BHP demands a very light car and they're normally uncomfortable.
Those 1ers are incredibly heavy - probably because they're a cut n' shut 3er. Then again, they do have a 27-speed derailleur or something, which is where my Leg End suffers with five widely-spaced ratios. And a dip-shit ECU...

The fun stuff is the year to year model changes:
A 118i from July 2014 to March 2015 has 167bhp. After that is has 136bhp.
After March 2015, you need a 120i for 174bhp.
After July 2016 you get 181bhp in a 120i
All do 0-60 in 7 seconds or so (the July 2016 onwards does it in 6.9) and weigh 1,320-1,380 kg according to Parkers, so not massively heavy.
The Pug weighs in at 1,150 but is a smaller class of car and does 0-60 in 6.3.
The Beemer steers better (no torque steer, unsurprisingly), rides better and I'm hoping there's not as much lag, especially with the 8-speed auto.
I might end up with a "warm" Golf, though...

Could be the six-pots then. I remember the 1st Gen was something over 1,500Kg which seemed an awful lot at the time.
Previous BMWs I've sat in* do at least have a reasonably good driving position - one reason I don't get on with VWs.
*I've suddenly realised they were all E-numbers. Where do the years go..?

according to t'web a 125 weighs 1475kg unladen.. i dunno whether that's unladen with things like oil, probably knowing them
that's only a 2l 4 pot so the 140i (which doesnt exist) probably tips 1500
they suffer heavy depreciation but i imagine a decent enough used buy. there's one for 20k on approved used, that'll come with warranty and as hot hatches go it's pretty decent but i've never liked the interior of these.... the leather is a bit DFS to me

WHen you get below a certain price point, the type of leather becomes a non issue and i think it also depends what you are coming from.
Most things are quieter, faster, nicer, more comfortable than the Aygo but equally they are 4 x the price. My issue is caring enough about the former to not care so much about the latter.

Actually, a lot of the pleather in the poverty-premium cars is vinyl - just like it was in the poverty-spec fleetmobiles of the 1970s. The L or GL had cloth or velour.
Funny, that...

I can only make one suggestion
If you get heated seats, make sure they are leather
sitting on heated cloth seats is like wearing a soiled nappy (or how I imagine that will feel in a few years)
