Installing a medicine cabinet should be a 2-3 hour project. So, now that I've disposed of the builder mirror and cut the first hole, look what's behind hole number two a 4" dryer vent pipe. Now I'm fully committed to this, so my 2-3 hour project now includes relocating the pipe, will likely consume my entire weekend, and must be completed this weekend because next weekend I'll be at Barber...and two weeks without clean laundry is not acceptable. This IS the status quo when it comes to home improvement.

The only solution is to put the builder mirror back up.

Alas, it's trashed :-( ...and too buy another would cost track time or go-fast parts.

Ugh, this thread reminds me of all the things I should be doing to my house, including finishing my garage and some landscaping stuff. Things that I said I would do when we moved into the house... four years ago...

Take a page out of my book. When I tell my wife I'm going to do something, she knows that she doesn't have to remind me every 6 months.

I would be tempted to just flex-tube it like the actual connection from your dryer to your wall. But then again that's a fire hazard... since you're supposed to clean the flex pieces at least once every 5 years or something, if not more often.

I ran a new vent pipe (rigid) in another cell and patched all the numerous holes yesterday. I just need to sand the final coat of joint compound and paint.

I SUCK at doing cutout drywall projects: cut, patching, putty, sanding, and painting. For some reason I can always see the lines where the pieces meet

The OCD in me comes out when doing this! Try flushing a beam into the attic where a wall once was and then having a flat ceiling running now 28 feet across vs. 12-14 and then a wall. Yeah I was feathering out that thing about 3 FEET on each side trying to get it to transition correctly.

My projects are coming along but next up is staining the deck but every time it dries out it seems to rain again! Getting frustrated.

I'm scheduled to close on my first house at the end of this month. I'm trying to work it so I can stay at my current apartment until the end of Oct which will give me some time to make the transition easier. I'm thinking I want to paint the interior and drywall the garage. The previous owner already insulated everything in the garage including the garage doors, however, he never put up drywall. As for painting, there are a few rooms with "less than tasteful" color choices so I'd like to make everything uniform. Figure all of this would be easier without having to move my stuff around.

I also realized that I seem to plan many things at the same time when it comes to important life decisions: I moved to Raleigh, took my bike to the Dragon and started a new job all in the same week! This time it'll be close on the house, take the car to CMP that weekend and then start house fixing.

Anybody like pizza and beer in exchange for painting?
