I think NASA needs to restrict cars equipped that way. That could have been a very bad situation.

I don't see how anyone could restrict this mod when Porches are oil-cooled.

Maybe aftermarket oil coolers

This is a tech issue, not an aftermarket oil cooler issue. I don't know the details of either incident but probability says that hoses were loose or brittle rather than an actual design issue. I'd grenade the motor if I raced without mine.

On another note regarding your spin and impact, once you realized that the car was able to move under it's own power you should have driven left through the grass towards the T12 corner worker, giving a wide berth of the actual track surface. You were parked in what we call an "impact zone" as evidenced by the fact that TWO cars just ended up occupying that same real estate and a THIRD car (as you noted above) almost joined the party.

Sunday Thunder race with 2:09.7 on lap 14, a new PR in race conditions.

That is what I have been preaching. Why add another failure point when you don't need it.

Unless you have an oil temp gauge its a gamble. Most cars that see heavy track use have oil coolers. My track car has two oil coolers and I still see temps over 260 on hot days or with aggressive driving. The problem with high oil temps is the protection dramatically drops off after a certain temp and it is brand and weight specific. The link below is to a website that shows how different oils perform at different temps. Its very long but you will be surprised at how much you learn. At the bottom is the oil rankings.
Happy reading. :P

for the record I use the 3rd oil on the list. If I still had my S2000 and was tracking it that's also the oil I would use.

I've only been running Amsoil signature in the S...sad to see it at #29, and with no notes.
