Dyed Seats

We had some down time today at the shop so I cleaned up the interior in my S and since my seats were so badly destroyed, we decided to clean them up and dye them.

Here are pics before:

I think those show just how nasty the bolsters were. Now here's the pics after dying. Keep in mind we just dyed the seats and did not repair any panel of the seat.

Now, the pictures don't show it very well, but the seats when I got the car 3 years ago had been dyed, or they tried to dye the seats and did a horrible job. They tried to dye them a darker red and blend it in to the OEM red. We had to match the darker red so the OEM red wouldn't show through since red is a very thin pigment.

I don't want to boast, but we do a little bit extra when dying seats and not just enough to get by. Without completely repairing the panels that can be seen in the "before" pictures, the seats look perfect and pretty much back to OEM spec.

This is only temporary anyway as we are planning my interior build which will be black/blue Ultrasuede with black/blue perforated Ultrasuede and a matte blue carbon fiber. Can't wait.

Clean the seat extremely well and know how much dye to spray on the seat.

How'd you fix the cracks? New leather?

Nope, we didn't repair anything. We just dyed the seats.

Wow they look almost brand new. Guess the cracks aren't as noticable now that they are stained the same color as the rest of the seat.

Yep, whoever tried to dye them before I got the car did a horrible job. This is the outcome of knowing what you're doing.
