Help with valve cover gasket
 

Hi there! Anyone local to the Wilmington NC area that can help me with a valve cover gasket replacement? I'll do all the work but its my first time and I don't want to mess anything up.

I'm not close to you, but if you do it yourself just be really careful not to torque the bolts holding the valve cover down too much. They need such little torque, and they will EASILY snap the heads off with too much torque. Been there, done that, several times over. Also watch the spark plug tube seals when you put the valve cover back on. Lube them up real good and make sure they don't get caught/tear on the top edge of the tubes.

Why are you replacing it if you mind me asking? Mine was around 15 years old and still in good shape. Is it leaking or just replacing as part of recommended maintenance while doing other things?

When I took it in for a another issue the mechanic suggested it. I just want to be proactive.

Grab the maintenance manual off with web. Valve cover gasket info hasn't changed. Torque specs are in there.
