I'll go ahead and say it for you guys...

In short, I want my S2000 back
I thought peak torque at 1400 rpm and almost 400 whp would make me happy, but there's been a big hole in my heart ever since March.
You guys were right. I bought one car hoping it would be a jack of all trades, and it is, but it's also a master of none (except maybe drag racing).
So now I'm trying to sell the 335 and then after that I'll get an S2000 and a more practical DD.

Before I drove an S2000, I was going to sell my Tacoma and buy a 335 for a 135. Once I drove the S2000, I changed course, kept the Tacoma and bought a '06 S2000. So far, it's worked out really well. When I need to have extra seats for my kids (or if it's raining), I drove the Tacoma (4 door double cab) and when I don't need more than 2 seats I drive the S2000. I cover the practical and the fun that way. My wife has a Mazda CX-9 as well.
Hope you find an S2K you like. I'd be interested in hearing more about driving the 335 vs the S2K :-)

The 335 is a good car, no question. However, it just isn't exhilarating. Even with all the power I was pushing, it's so quiet and smooth riding that it doesn't get your blood pumping. You can hit 120, 130 and really barely bat an eyelid. Does it grip well in the corners? Yes, but it's not nearly as tight and toss-able as the s2000. Lots more body roll and can definitely tell they dialed in understeer rather than the car rotating around you (like I used to feel in the s2000). Originally Posted by elvis14

As for specifics:
Engine: Can't beat the torque and power of the N54, but I miss the immediate nature of the N/A S2000. Sometimes you'll shift slowly into the next gear in the 335 and wonder where all your power went while you wait for the turbos to catch up. While the s2000 may not have much torque down low, it's a stable and guaranteed amount and it's always right at the touch of the throttle.
Transmission: The 335 is much less notchy in the cold. However when warm it still retains a certain rubbery feel, whereas the S2000 once warm is the most amazing feeling transmission. Also, talk about long throws compared to the s2000.
Interior: Obviously the 335 is spacious, full of technology, great sound system, etc. Funny enough, however, I think I actually prefer the seats in the s2000 over the fully adjustable 335 seats.
Cruising: This is obviously where the 335 wins hands down. The s2000 on the highway is loud, small, every SUV's headlights are at eye level, etc. The 335 will eat up some highway miles like a champ, just have to be careful, because the torque in 6th gear at low rpms means it's still easy to break the law.
I've said it before, but in a perfect world I'd have the 335 as a daily driver and the s for the weekends....well in a perfect world I might have a c63 for a daily driver and a gt3 rs for the weekends, but that's a different story altogether. Thanks for all the support guys.

Thanks for the reply. So far I'm very happy with my decision to buy the S2K (and keep my Tacoma). I know what you mean about going fast not being all that exciting when the car is so smooth and it's too easy. I've had MR2's (MKI and MKII), Miata's, a WRX, etc. and I have to admit that I liked the slower, lighter cars more than the faster, heavier cars.Originally Posted by humbucker87

Operation buy S is complete.

Hope to see you guys at the next cars and coffee, and at the very least VIR.
