Good deal! How much longer would it take to remove the calipers to paint them instead?
DougEFresh spent about 15 minutes grinding down just the mold lines on each caliper, gave them a quick spray with brake cleaner then painted 1- 1 1/2 coats on each caliper. I imagine it took him about 10 minutes to paint each caliper.
I spent about 45 minutes (once i figured out the right stone to use) grinding each caliper. I also did some masking which was likely about 15 minutes per caliper and I put 3 coats on each caliper at about 15 minutes per coat per caliper.
I think Rajun_Asian, pulled his calipers from the rotors without removing any brake lines, dynofiled, then painted. my2ks2k did a complete removal, sandblasted (I think), then powdercoated. Perhaps they can provide more detail on what they did and how long it took them.

Excellent...Hopefully you feel it an accurate portrayal.

doesn't need to take that long though. i pulled the calipers and rotors off, and completely disassembled the calipers. i ground the casting lines off, as well as smoothed the surfaces that would be visible once they were back on the car. i sandblasted everything but the rear main pieces (since they still have bearings in them, you don't want to put them in a blasting cabinet.) cleaned them good, masked them, shot them with powder, and baked them. probably could be done in 2 days of solid work if you have the necessary equipment. the reason mine was down for so long was because i waited about 2 and a half weeks for my caliper rebuild kits to come in. if you've got time to kill and another car to drive, it's definitely fun to take them all the way down and redo the whole caliper, but it's definitely not for everyone.
i also blasted the rotors, powder coated the whole front and sides, and had them turned.
if you're just talking about removing the calipers to paint them, it's not that hard at all since you don't have to disassemble them or anything.

I'm not sure if y'all have seen these pics but it took maybe 6 hours from the time I started jacking up the car 'til I put on the last coat of paint.
Here's what a dynafile looks like for those who are interested. There's definately more than one way to skin a cat and many different methods can end up with equally good results. Wish I would've thought about powder coating my rotors.

I gotta say... to those who used a grinder or filed their calipers...I didn't do that since I wasn't looking for a super smooth finish...nevertheless, mine was done back in 2002 and I only "touch up" every 6 months or so...
I just used hi-temp paint and masked off the area of work...
To each his own...nice work _rs_ and rajun asian!
