Maybe I should add comp license eval to my itinerary for the VIR event Oct 6-7? https://nasaproracing.com/events/2774

I still need to get a fire extinguisher.

Vinyl 2 Brett 0. Tried wrapping the hardtop again tonight. Doing the top portion is easy, but you get to curving it down around the sides and it all goes to shit pretty quick. I'll pay someone to wrap this shit. For now I'll run bare FRP. See those going to VIR next week!

I still need to give the vinyl wrap thing a try. I built a few 2-meter R/C gliders in my Aerospace Engineering classes in high school, all were covered in heat-shrink vinyl and had more compound curves than a hardtop.

Well finally back from VIR and Sunday wasn't the greatest of track days for me. Saturday runs were great and I was loving the tuned power output. The car felt great. Got out there this morning and warmed the car on grid, did our slow paced warm up lap and then started our hot lap. We weren't half way through when the engine let go. I completed my 4th to 5th upshift and was north of 7500rpm when it sputtered and then shut down. I was towed back to paddock and took the valve cover off to find pieces of the rocker arm for cylinder 2 hanging out in the head, and with the car in neutral I am unable to turn the motor more than 90 degrees. I also cant get the spark plug out to bore scope it. Anyway, just wanted to add myself to the list of rocker arm failures. I'm sorry to see I'm not the only one:

Now the only question is to rebuild or do a K swap.

Thanks Kev...it's unfortunate, but comes with the territory. I found a donor car (flood damaged ap1) in Clayton at an insurance auction. Hopefully I can get it for the right price and swap the motor into it and get it retuned.

good luck on the repair.
let me know if you do get a donor car, i am interested in some body parts to go back to stock.

also, a buddy of mine uses car cosmotology off of 64 for inexpensive vinyl wraps. may want to check them out
