Priority Honda - Huntersville NC
Very disappointed in their sales tactics. Received a form letter (voucher) earlier this week with an offer to purchase my S2000. It was a very nice offer, so I decided to take them up on the voucher. Understand that no where on the voucher did it state any conditions (mileage, etc) of this voucher. I thought this might be an example of a bait and switch tactic, but considering the dealership, reputation, etc I thought no way they would stoop to that level just to get traffic through the door.
To make a long story short, sadly it was a classic bait and switch sales technique. We have just recently moved to the Charlotte area from Greenville, so I'm not sure about the customer protection laws in NC. I know they aren't as strong as SC, but we shall soon find out. I know in SC the voucher would have been enforceable as a contract offer and they would have been obligated to purchase my vehicle. Of course, the dealership said they sent out a redaction notice and just happened to have a copy on hand. I never received this redaction, so I can't say for sure.
I did sell my S2000 to Honda of Concord later this afternoon, so now I'll be filing a compliant with the BBB and plan to take Priority Honda to small claims court and sue for the difference in my loss of sale. My experience was just another reason people hate buying/selling a vehicle.
I know they had a meet there recently and some members of this forum may be employed by Priority Honda. Don't have an issue with the meet or those folks, but thought you needed to know what type management and sales tactics (false advertising) are used by this dealership. I've bought a lot of vehicles over the last 20 or so years and I can't think of one that wouldn't have made good on the voucher just to keep a customer happy. With the lengths and depth of social media today, I was really shocked they let me walk this afternoon over $2000.00.

Yves, I'm looking at another BMW. It will be a while before I can swing the Vette since I want the C7. We are thinking either a 135i or 335i, since we need something with a little room. Our move to Charlotte has us commuting 6+ hours to watch May play soccer and Tracy's back could not take the beating of that ride in the S. I will really miss the handling and ability to drop the top. We are hoping once May finishes school we might be able to get another S for a weekend car
It wasn't one of those goofy letters that looks like its hand written on yellow notebook paper, was it? I get these all the dang time from another local Honda dealer. They make them out to look like someone at the dealer hand wrote you a letter talking about low used stock and how they want to buy your car.

Again, I'm not sure about NC so instead of hiring an attorney, I'm just going to seek taking them to small claims court to recover my loss on sale from the $18,090. Based on the attitude of the sales manager yesterday, I feel like this is a standard practice at this dealership. I'm shocked they would employ such a blatant bait and switch, false advertising tactic. I asked to speak with the dealership manager and was just brushed off, so that was the last straw. I went there in good faith with a voucher to purchase my vehicle and get treated like a second class citizen, so let's see if taking them to small claims court gets them to think about hiring someone to proof read their copy before mailing.
I live right down the street from Priority and got one as well, but mine had a wide range... 8800-13000 (2004 with 90k on it).
I'd be interested to see what they would offer me if i took it in, but not looking to sell/trade.
Confused on your story - they offered you a set amount and then lowered it when they factored in "condition"?

Yes the voucher was for a set amount. They appraised the car and offered less than what was listed on the voucher. No where on the voucher does it list any conditions of the voucher.

BTW, the S2000 was our fourth Honda and I'm sure will not be out last. When our daughter graduates college in a few years we plan to buy her an Accord as a graduation present. I assure you it won't be from Priority Honda. I don't normally rant like a little girl, but this is blatant false advertising and it really pissed me off. Taking time off work to go sell my vehicle then getting jerked around like I did. I can't wait to relay my experience to everyone at work on Monday.
