I used Motul 8100 X-Cess for a couple years, then the place I bought it from stopped stocking it. When I ran out of my stash, I switched to Red Line 10W30. I haven't sent it off for analysis yet, but I intend to. When I sent the Motul stuff off for analysis, Blackstone's assessment was that it was doing a great job, and I could extend the drain intervals another 1000 miles if I wanted to. The car gets autocrossed a lot, and spends more than its share of time on the limiter. I use OEM filters, like many of the others, ever since I've owned the car.

I use PureOne filters on my F250 diesel. Not so much with the S2000, but with the truck, that grippy coating on the whole filter is wonderful. The F250's oil filter is gigantic, holds close to 2 quarts of oil, and can be tricky to get in and out, mostly because of its weight when full of waste oil. The grippy stuff is a huge help.

That oil filter article is a good read, but it sure looks familiar to me. I think it's pretty old, and if it is, some of the filters in the review may have changed.

So this is what i have concluded:

Castrol GTX Syn
or
Royal Purple Syn

With OEM Filter

Which one would you pick?
How many miles do you plan to drive?
Is royal worth the extra $15 over GTX?

I have used nothing but PureONE filters for years, it's my filter of choice. Used them on multiple cars for probably around 200k combined miles (60k of those on my AP2) with no problems. They have a silicone anti drainback valve and that is one of the reasons I like them.

Oddly enough all my cars use the same size filter, maybe I should try an OEM s2000 filter on my 3000GTs

The PCX filter (OEM) is recommended because of the higher pressures in the S2000 engine. I know of at least 2 people that used a different filter have them spin off the car and dump oil all over the road - once on the track. As a result we require a pcx filter during our track days. If you're not using one (or a filter retention system), we don't let you on the track.

I've been using Mobile 1 full synthetic, but just changed to Royal Purple with my last oil change.
